Course Overview
The Acellus 2nd Grade Social Studies curriculum encourages students to explore and understand how they fit into the world as members of a community, a country, and the global society. Students will learn how to read and use maps to understand the world around them. They also discover how industry and government work in the United States, exploring the roles of businesses, workers, and the structure of government.
Students will cover topics in U.S. History, starting with the early Native American cultures. They’ll learn about their contributions, traditions, and way of life. They then explore the arrival of European settlers, the American Revolution, and the founding of the United States. Student will continue on to the Civil War, where they examine its causes, key events, and important figures. Finally, students will get a brief introduction to world history, learning about early civilizations and their influence on the modern world.

These video-based lessons can be paused or rewatched, allowing students to go at their own pace. This flexibility helps students who may need more time to understand certain concepts.
