Course Overview
The Acellus Discover Portuguese uses the Discover Method to teach students, who have little or no Portuguese background. The course focuses on the vocabulary and pronunciation needed for everyday conversations in Portuguese. Through video-based lessons, students actively engage with the UNIVERSAL INTERACTION TECHNIQUE and Discovery Method, which features quick vocabulary lessons followed by real-life conversations. These lessons build step-by-step, introducing the most common words and phrases. As students progress, the vocabulary and phrasing grow more complex, but always at a manageable pace. Instead of translating, students learn by associating words and phrases with meaning in the new language, just like native speakers.
Video Based Lessons
These video-based lessons can be paused or rewatched, allowing students to go at their own pace. This flexibility helps students who may need more time to understand certain concepts.

Discover Portuguese Lesson Plans
By the end of this Discover Portuguese course, students will have exposure to a wide range of vocabulary and conversational skills that span various aspects of everyday life. This will include common school supplies, household appliances, clothes, and items found in a suitcase. They will also learn about different jobs, professions, and personal items, as well as food, money, and places to visit. With a growing understanding of animals, family members, emotions, and actions, students will also learn about describing plants, household items, and professions. In addition, students will develop their skills in discussing time, asking questions, and talking about travel, weather, and technology. By combining all these elements, these create a solid foundation for students to start applying what they’ve learned to real-life situations in both rural and urban contexts.
